RE: Whitman Hanson Girls soccer

The Whitman Hanson girls’ soccer team advances in the Division 1 south sectional tournament with a 2-0 win over Weymouth. Whitman Hanson applied tremendous pressure, 11 shots on goal, for the entire first half but could not find the back of the net until 1 minute remaining in the half. Taylor Kofton took a Lauren Bonavita pass and fired it into the back of the net. The second half saw Whitman Hanson with countless opportunities and finally scoring the second goal when A Gabby Gately shot deflected off the Weymouth keeper and Betty Blake was there to fire home the shot. Weymouth created some chances down the stretch only to be turned aside by Panther goalkeeper Skylar Kuzmich(6 saves). The Whitman Hanson defense of Sammi Smith, Carly Alexopoulos, Olivia Reed, Elana Wood and Katie Korzec were strong all night long. Eve Montgomery and Gabby Gately also turned in strong performances.
