RE: Whitman Hanson Girls soccer

The Whitman Hanson girls’ soccer team advanced in the Division 1 south sectional tournament with a 2-0 quarterfinal win over Needham. Whitman Hanson applied pressure from the opening whistle but could not put the ball by the Needham keeper. The Panther defense of Sammi Smith, Elana Wood, Carly Alexopoulos, and Olivia Reed kept Needham offense at bay for the first half as they entered the half 0-0. The Panthers continued to attack the Needham goal and finally broke through when Lauren Bonavita headed home a Taylor Robertson cross. 15 minutes later Bonavita found the back of the net again when she finished off a Taylor Kofton cross. Katie Korzec, Taylor Kofton, Taylor Robertson, and Eve Montgomery all turned in outstanding performances for the Panthers. The Panthers outshot Needham 13-4 and goalkeeper Skylar Kuzmich made 4 saves in goal for the shutout.
