Whitman Hanson Girls' Soccer

Whitman Hanson girls soccer opened the season and league play with a 2-0 victory over Silver Lake. Both teams battled in the first half and midway through Whitman Hanson striker Eve Montgomery took a feed from sophomore Sam Perkins and slipped it by the diving Silver Lake goalkeeper. Whitman Hanson entered the half with a 1-0 lead and that remained until Montgomery found a streaking Perkins and she lofted the ball over the reach of the keeper to put Whitman Hanson up 2-0. The rest was up to the defense of Elana Wood, Olivia Johnson, Samantha Smith and Betty Blake and they were up to the challenge limiting the Silver Lake offense all night. Katie Amado made 6 saves in net to earn the shutout. Madeline Nagle, Lexi Grazioso and Lauren Bonavita were outstanding in the win.
