Whitman Hanson girls soccer

The Whitman Hanson girls' soccer team defeated Patriot league opponent Marshfield 3-1. Despite controlling play in the first half Whitman Hanson found themselves in a 1-0 hole at the half. WH got the equalizer when freshman Elizabeth Kowlski pounced on a loose ball at the top of the box and placed the ball over the Marshfield keeper's head. The Panthers continued to pressure the Marshfield backs and drew a free kick 35yds out. Junior Makenna Marshall fired the free kick into the side netting to put WH u p2-1 and minutes later Ella Nagle fired a shot from the left side that found the top of the net and accounted for the 3-1 score. Aliya Chapman, Brooke McAloney, Savannah Kamperides and Lexi Cole were outstanding defensively all night. Keeper Ava Patete had 11 saves in goal and 3 or 4 highlight saves in the final minutes of the match.
