whitman hanson girls' soccer

The Whitman Hanson girls’ soccer team finished the regular season 18-0 with a hard fought battle with host Scituate. Whitman Hanson opened the scoring 14 minutes in to the match when Lauren Bonavita collected a ball 20 yds out and fired a shot past the Scituate goalkeeper. With a few minutes remaining before half, Scituate was awarded a penalty shot which they converted on tying the score at 1 apiece. Both teams battled in the second half but unable to convert. With one minute remaining Alexis Fruzzetti sent a beautiful thru ball to Rachel Kelly which she collected and tucked it underneath the Scitiuate goalkeeper for the game winner. Sammi Smith, Elana Wood and Taylor Kofton all had strong performances for the Panthers who await the seedings for the Div 1 South tournament.
